Ulrike Bergermann

Lives in Hamburg.
Since 1.1.2009 professor for media sciences at the HBK Braunschweig.
Research assistant in the special research field "Media and cultural communication" at the University of cologne (january 2007 to december 2008).
Before, Lise-Meitner-scholarship of the land Nordrhein-Westfalen until december 2006 (working title "Cognition projects. Cybernetics and media sciences")
Guest professor at the Ruhr-University of Bochum in the summer terms of 2003 and 2004;
assistant at the University of Paderborn from October 1999 to March 2003.
Her doctoral dissertation deals with sign language notation in its disciplinary and medial contexts ("Ein Bild von einer Sprache", Munich 2000).
Before, she studied German language and literature and the History of Art in Heidelberg and Hamburg, has been busy at Thealit since 1991 and held teaching positions at the University of Hamburg and the Art Academy Braunschweig.
Main topics of interest include media theory, gender studies, digital media, science studies, and popular culture
