Caroline Bassett
Caroline Bassett is Reader in Digital Media and researches and teaches in the Department of Media and Film at the University of Sussex.
She is Director of the Centre for Material Digital Culture [CMDC] and also has a University wide research role leading the Digital and Social Media Theme.
She is chair of the Digital section of ECREA, the European Communication, Research and Education Association.
Caroline has been writing, researching and working around digital media for many years. At Sussex she teaches Masters options and courses on new developments in digital media and supervises doctoral students exploring digital technologies and cultures, critical theory and technology, gender and technology, transformations in the political economy of new media.
Research has resulted in published work in the areas of gender and technology, narrative and new media formations, mobility, intimate technology and everyday life, sense perception and mobile media, cultural and critical theories of technology, networks and digital humanities. Recent work is exploring anti-computing.
