Rena Tangens
Artist, Publicist and web pioneer from Bielefeld.
In 1984 she founded the art project "Art d’Ameublement” (roughly quoting the composer Erik Satie) together with her colleague padeluun.
In 1987 she brought the first modem to the exhibition documenta and ars electronica.
In 1988 she was artist in residence in Canada, invited by the Canada Council.
Since 1987 organiser of the monthly culture and technology series ‘PUBLIC DOMAIN’ and founder of FoeBuD e.V. ("Club of the friendly genius”) in Bielefeld.
From 1989 construction of the electronic citizen network Z-Netz and /CL as well as the Zamir Transnational Network in Ex-Yugoslavia.
1990-1996 software design for the MailBox program ZERBERUS.
Since 2000 she organises the annual German Big Brother Awards ( the "Oscars for data leeches”). As an expert for RFID and data privacy she advises associations, ministries, and EU commission and travels to lecture on art and technology, data privacy, civil rights and democracy.
In 2004 padeluun and Rena Tangens received the art award "Evolutionäre Zellen” (evolutionary cells) from the Karl Ernst Osthaus museum and the Neue Gesellschaft für Bildende Kunst (New Society for Graphic Art) for their complete works since 1984.
