Leona Koldehoff

Leona Koldehoff works at the intersection of curatorial, performative, and activist practices. She explores and tests formats of artistic and academic historiography with a focus on queer and feminist positions and projects. Her current work is focused on transforming her ongoing research topics (such as housing, ableism, and queerness) into specialized artistic formats.

As a dramaturg, Leona Koldehoff recently staged the reading/performance Your Body Is a Skyscraper with the author Fred Heinemann. She also developed the production You Know The Feeling with the collective Blomen/Moré/Reiniger. In collaboration with other artists, she runs the Probebühne im Gängeviertel, a rehearsal space for the independent performance scene in Hamburg. Along with curator Nora Brünger, Leona Koldehoff organized the exhibition caring structures at Kunstverein Hildesheim with the aim of making space for an intersectional and forward-looking reflection on ableism. Their next project concerns art, public space and activism in Hanover in the 1970s and features artist Julia Lübbecke.

Leona Koldehoff studied Art and Visual History and Philosophy in Berlin as well as Applied Theater and Performance Studies in Hildesheim. She lives in Hamburg and is currently pursuing a second Master’s in Library and Information Science.

Projekt

In the research project QUEERING CAPITALISM I use historical material from the queer community to explore tactics of solidarity-based distribution of resources such as money and skills. The question of how I can artistically process research in a way that creates an affective as well as informative approach is very important to me in this project.

The starting point for my research is two concepts that I recently encountered in an issue of themagazine IHRSINN – eine radikalfeministische Lesbenzeitschrift from the 1990s during an event at the Frauen*bildungzentrum DENKtRÄUME in Hamburg: the bank account of the Berlin Prololesben and the concept of LESY - Adelaide, which focuses on sharing non-financial resources.

I would like to use the Arbeitszimmer thealit as a studio for a week, where I can arrange materials and meet potential discussion partners. In addition, I would like to sift through further historical materials in the nearby rooms of Belladonna Kultur, Bildung und Wirtschaft für Frauen e.V..

As an offshoot of the project Queering Capitalism, I will create informative-associative collages to present on the walls of the workroom as well as in a media format. The collages aim to provide a visualization of the various approaches to solidarity-based distribution of resources on site and digitally..
