Working Group on Endings

Working Group on Endings (Astor Roth, Charlotte Perka, Jakob Karpus, Ruxin Liu) is a temporary constellation that emerges from a shared reflection process on endings: The endings of projects they are invested in, how to continue (working) after, and the transformative potentiality of actively catalysing endings.

Recapitulating the End: How to end collectives well?

How can we bring collectives to a thoughtful and caring end? Through a two-day public workshop, participants are invited to collectively reflect on stories of collective dissolutions, acknowledging endings as important moments of knowledge and care.

In our experience, burnout – stemming from neoliberal social and working structures – is one of the main reasons people lack the time and energy to end collective work properly, often resulting instead in a sudden rupture, with people simply dropping out. This makes us want to explore the ambiguous relationship between failure and endings. It also invites us to practice alternative ways of ending collective work that prioritize care and make space for grief. By making space for sharing and listening to stories of dissolution – by recapitulating the end – we acknowledge endings as carriers of knowledge for the future.

The workshops are open to everyone interested and will be held in English and German as needed. We can assist each other with translation.

Registration is appreciated, spontaneous participants are also very welcome!
